Seeing Pure

Matthew 6:22-23
The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

I often say “trash in, trash out”. Here in Matthew 6 we see that what we consume with our eyes affects our entire bodies. Are we being careful to only watch what is good or are we setting ourselves up for failure by watching evil things? Are watching things that are pleasing to God and bringing Him glory or are we watching things that grieve the Holy Spirit and turn others on the path to hell?

Many people believe that by living a life that strives to be holy and pure is “not fun” but I can tell you I have had nothing but fun and I sleep well at night knowing I do not have anything negative to answer for. God is not asking us to give up fun, He is protecting us from a life of pain and misery. Only we can choose to accept a better life for ourselves.

Before watching those movies, videos, or programs, or looking at those photos ask yourself those questions again. Will this glorify God? Will this make me a better person? If it won’t then run away from it the same way Joseph ran from Potiphar’s wife in Genesis 39.
